The laughter, tears, and anomalies of trying to create a family and a place in this world. There are no guarantees.

Too

Too many thoughts. Too many emotions. Too many potential blog titles. Too good to be true.

As it turns out, my little friend endometriosis was good enough to qualify us to add the IVF rider to our insurance but she just isn't quite 'good' enough to allow anything to be covered. Here's the breakdown:

Us (innocent victims) -
"Giant money scheming insurance company, we would like to partake in infertility insurance to help us pay for the unfortunate circumstance that we have found ourselves in for almost the last two years."
Insurance - "You must have one of two things: (1) 5 years of infertility OR (2) An endo diagnosis."
Us (innocent victims) - "Oh, we surely can provide you with the information on our endo diagnosis. Please, please let us pay you extra every month so that we can have this coverage."
Insurance - "Congratulations, you now have IVF coverage and even your meds will be covered."
Us (innocent victims) - "Oh thank you giant money scheming insurance company. We will put the new coverage to good use!"

*It comes time for the doctor's office to run the pre-authorization*

Insurance -
"Oh dear, did we forget to mention one little thing? We cannot cover your meds. And about that little retrieval/transfer thing - we aren't going to be able to cover that either. In order to actually get the benefits that you paid for, you have to meet one of three criteria and it appears that you are automatically denied from two of those. The other one is the endometriosis diagnosis, but we have to have proof of a severe case and it looks like you won't qualify under that either."
Us (innocent victims) - "Hmmmm. Okay, so what you are telling us is that we are paying you for basically nothing."
Insurance - "Well, your sonograms are covered but remember that IUI's are not covered either."

And here we are. Phone calls have already been made and we are hell bent on fighting for what we believed we were paying for in the first place. What is the point of doing so much research and leg work beforehand if we are just going to get knocked down anyway??? We are pissed, and something has to give.

So that is the word on the insurance situation. Well, here are my words for the insurance....
FUCK YOU.
